Most people are excited about the change in the weather. The spring is a great time of year to get out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. One of the benefits of spring is that you can get warm temperatures, newly flourishing plants and flowers and the life from birds and other animals. This makes being outdoors fun and comfortable. With that said most people will start to take care of the yard and the landscaping and that can lead to new messes that get in the house. The mess often comes from working outdoors or from kids that are playing outdoors. You want to make sure you have a plan to clean these types of stains off your carpets. The carpets can be stained from anything from a cup of juice to grass that has been brought in on the bottom of your shoes after yard work. Tough Carpet Cleaning outlines what you can do to remove grass stains from your carpet.
Vacuum Grass Out of Carpet
When it comes to stains there are some that need to be treated in a very specific way. Grass is one of them that will look quite different than other stains because of the components. The grass will have clippings that often are around the stained area and will need to be taken care of first. You can do that by using your vacuum cleaner. You want to make sure that you use the hose attachment only and never the main part that has the rotating brush. If you use the rotating brush it can take the fresh clippings and press them into the carpet causing the stain to become bigger. The hose attachment is the best tool for the job.
Cleaning Solution to Remove Grass
Now that you have the excess and loose clippings removed from the area you want to make a fresh batch of cleaning solution. The first thing you can do is to take about two cups of warm water and mix a mild dish soap. Then dip a clean cloth in the solution and dab at the area that has been stained. This will work to clear the discoloration from the carpets. You want to make sure you repeat the process as many times as needed to remove the stain. You also want to avoid using a rubbing action as this will start to wear out and fray the carpet fibers.
Clean Grass Residue from Carpet
Now that the excess is gone and you have worked to clean the discoloration from the stain you want to clean the spot. If you use a soapy cleaning solution and you don’t clean it off you can create a sticky residue. The residue will attract dirt that can start to create a new stain. You want to get a new cloth that you can dip in clean cold water. Dab at the area that you cleaned and repeat over the entire area. This will remove the residue and dry clean and soft.
