How to Remove Set In Red, Purple & Other Ice Popsicle Stains from Carpet in Summerlin, NV

Summer is here! This year in Las Vegas it took longer than normal to feel like summer but the weather is now in full summer normalcy. The normalcy means hot, hot, hot! With the weather so hot a nice cool treat is always appreciated by kids and adults alike. Popsicles are a popular treat that fits the bill perfectly on a warm summer day. One of the downsides to popsicles is that they will stain your carpet if someone drops part of it. So how do you get rid of Popsicle stains?

Clean Popsicle Stains Right Away

The best thing that you can do to get rid of popsicles stains is to clean them up right away. The less time that the Popsicle has to sit on your carpet the easier it is to clean. If you notice it right away many times you can simply quickly pick it up and there will not be any mark on your carpet at all. As it sits on your carpet it will slowly melt. Having the sugary colored Popsicle melt on your carpet is what produces stains.

How to Get Rid of Popsicle Stains on Carpet with Hydrogen Peroxide

If a popsicle stain is found on your carpet there are some different things you can try. The first option uses hydrogen peroxide and water. Fill up a spray bottle with equal parts hydrogen peroxide and water. You will want to make sure that you shake the spray bottle well to ensure that the hydrogen peroxide and water mix thoroughly. As you shake it the mixture will probably fizz a little bit. You will want to leave yourself some empty space in your spray bottle to accommodate the fizzing. Once it is thoroughly mixed spray some on the stained area. For smaller stains typically 10 to 15 minutes is plenty of time. If you have a larger stain you may want to let it sit for up to 30 minutes. Now get a spray bottle with just water in it. Spray some water onto the stain next. Then grab a clean towel and blot at the stain. Make sure that you do not rub the stained area with the towel. Rubbing the area will only result in the stain setting further into your carpet. You should definitely see the stain starting to go away at this point. You may need to repeat the process to get rid of the stain completely.

Using Lemon to Remove Popsicle Stains from Carpet

If you do not have hydrogen peroxide you may want to try lemon. You can use lemon juice or a fresh lemon for this method. Apply lemon to a small area of your carpet that is not noticeable first to make sure that it does not stain your carpet or cause any discoloration. If it does not cause any problems go ahead and use the same steps that were used with the hydrogen peroxide method above but use your lemon juice.

Vinegar Can Remove Carpet Popsicle Stains

Another method that uses household items uses vinegar and water. You will want to mix equal parts vinegar and water. Make sure that you use white vinegar. Apple cider vinegar can stain your carpet! The steps for this process are the same as the two methods above.
