1) The vacuum’s hose and upholstery brush attachment is ideal to remove the debris, dust, and hair from the surface. Pull the sofa out if you can to reach the back and be sure to thoroughly vacuum the front, armrests, sides, backrest, and under the cushions, as well as the all 4 sides of the cushions and place them aside.
2) After you are sure the surface is free of debris, generously shake baking soda all over the sofa, and treat the sofa cushions separately on the side. Allow 15 minutes for the baking soda to absorb the odor molecules. It will significantly remove many smells on the sofa.
3) Like in step one, thoroughly vacuum the baking soda, and the odors with it. Between the dirt and debris in addition to the baking soda, the canister or the vacuum bag will fill fast, be sure to keep an eye on it.
4) If you still notice odors, you can treat it with vinegar. For even distribution, pour white vinegar in a spray bottle and gently mist the fabric, do not oversaturate, it should be able to dry quickly. The vinegar can destroy bacteria that causes odors to help improve the smell.

You an avoid odors from being treated by immediately treating any substance spills or accidents. Any food, drinks, even water can cause odors from occurring. Be sure to use a blunt tool, such as a spoon, to remove the mass and use a dry, clean cloth and paper towels to sop up the liquid. For washing directions and appropriate cleaners that can be safely used, be sure to read the label on the upholstery tag. Always do a patch test in an inconspicuous area to ensure the fabric will not be harmed by when remove spots and stains.
